Indie Author Interest Form
Thank you for your interest in working with Afterglow Books! We're excited to connect with indie authors and want to be transparent about how we can work together most effectively. Here's what you need to know:
Website Listing
We're happy to list up to two of your titles on our website! To get started:
- Complete this form to submit your listing request
- Once listed, share the links with your readers
- Actively promote that your books are available through our store
Note: We update our web site listings approximately once a month.
A tab for Indie Authors is available under Books to showcase all titles available for order.
Stocking Books in Our Store
Due to historical sales data, we generally do not stock indie published titles unless they have a proven track record in our store through successful preorder campaigns or consistent special orders. As a small business with slim margins, we must maintain a sustainable business model that works for both parties.
That's not to say we don't or will never stock indie authors on our shelves. We've had the pleasure of working with indie authors on successful preorder and ongoing sales campaigns. Some notable examples include:
- Brooke Marley Jones (@whimsicalnightmarenovelist)
- Kristina Suko (@kristinawithlove)
- Jennifer Aline (@jennifer.aline.writes)
- Rachel Kaye (@rachel.kaye.writes)
These authors have demonstrated how effective promotion and engagement with local bookstores can create successful partnerships.
To Be Considered
For your title(s) to be considered for listing we require certain criteria to be met:
- Your book falls into one of the following genres: Romance, Fiction with a Romance Subplot, Fantasy, Romantasy.
- Your book is available to order through Ingram.
- We do not accept books that have been generated using artificial intelligence. If you knowingly submit a book that was created using A.I. and we find out, we will remove your listing from our store.
Important Notes
- Customer preferences vary by store. Each store considers if a book's genre and themes match their customer base.
- Your active promotion of our store as a purchase option may influence our future stocking decisions.
- Supporting local bookstores and other small businesses creates community value through local taxes, free events, and cultural support.
We're here to support your publishing journey while maintaining a sustainable business model. While we may not be able to stock every indie book, we're always happy to explore ways to work together and support our local writing community.
